Scapula pain: Pain in this area can be due to scapula pathology itself or due to a pinched nerve root which emanates from the vertebrae in the neck. Another possibility is a lung lesion or inflammation of the lung lining(pleurisy). Your physician will take a history, perform a physical examination and order appropriate tests in order to make a diagnosis.

Diaphragm irritated: Answer might be simply inflammation, but it could also be gall bladder or a pleural effusion. Would try anti-inflammatories first, and if not better in 3 days, see your provider.

Muscle strain/spasm: As you inhale deeply, you expand your chest wall...And doing so, you move shoulder blades up and out, thus pulling on the muscles attaching to the upper and inner areas of the shoulder blade. If these muscles are strained somehow (common for people working on computer keyboards for long periods), they can be sore when you breath in deeply..
When in doubt, have it checked out.

Right shoulder pain: It sounds to me to be your diaphragm irritated which refers pain to your shoulder and when u take a deep breath. If u just recovered from an upper respiratory infection there is residual inflammation in your lungs that can cause this referred pain too.

Muscle, nerve: Probably a rhomboid strain, scapular bursitis, costotransverse or costovertebral joint problem where the ribs meet the spine, , or a costochondritis (irritation of the cartilage between the ribs). You should check with your primary care doc just in case it is referred pain for an organ as well.

i woke up with a sore chest. no caughing or sinus. the chest pain went away after a day but moved to the back/my right shoulder blade and my arm is numb. i noticed that it is more difficult to breath and it hurts when i try to breath deep.

Doctor can evaluate: Shortness of breath is not normal, unless it is the mild temporary shortness of breath with sports activities (but even then, one must be sure she is not having more shortness of breath than her sports peers have). Possible reasons in young adults include asthma, lung infection, heart arrhythmia, heart failure, fluid around the heart, fluid in the lungs, costochondritis, anxiety, etc...

Multiple causes: Upper back & right sides chest may be the result of a thoracic disc herniation, thoracic facet syndrome, T4 syndrome, costoveterbral syndrome, muscle strain, ect. It may also represent referred pain from internal organs such as the heart & lungs, which are more serious. With your breathing difficulties you should contact  your  pcp for an immediate evaluation. If not available go to nearest er!

See a doc: This may be an intercostal strain or an upper abdominal strain. If there was trauma, then a contusion or rib injury would be possible. A lung condition such as an infection and/or pleurisy are possibilities. Since there is a wide range of causes, and this sounds to be a persistently painful situation for you, i recommend a physician evaluation to narrow the diagnosis and to get specific treatment.
