had sinus surgery six weeks ago. was using neti pot 4 times a day for 4 weeks. was experiencing etd symptoms. switched to saline spray. used a few times 3 days ago. etd has gotten worse. nose constantly runs. will this resolve itself?

: You should switch nasal saline to nasacort or nasonex (OTC), twice a day, as a trial. The inhaler can slow down the runny nose (rhinorrhea) and open the eustachian opening.

Few days: It may take a few days. If it does not work would see an ENT to evaluate the area inside the nose where the tube has an opening.

when i explain tmj/tmd to my patients, i tell them that everyone has TMJ (unless some type of mutation, cancer or accident.)  TMJ is the anatomy of the jaw joints- (t) temporal bone on upper maxilla; (m) mandible- lower jaw; (j) joints- where the two meet in a complex of tendons, ligaments, etc.  Tmd are the symptoms exhibited by someone who has a problem with the TMJ complex.

ETD: Chew gum. It will help equalize the pressure in your Eustachian tubes

It depends: If you mean eustachian tube dysfunction it is best to do nasal rinses to decrease inflammation with a 'Neti Pot' and salt water (pre packaged is best).  Also topical decongestants are also good such as afrin or even nasal saline spray. Finally you can take oral decongestants.

No: It can cause some loss due to pressure imbalance behind the ear drum. Should be prescribed medications to relieve congestion. Presume that you have seen an ent.

i started off having labrinthitis i now have bppv and etd i have a holiday booked will it be ok to fly and if so what can i take to help me in flight.

3 different problems: Eustachian tube dysfunction (etd) usually leads to middle ear problems and is not related to either labyrinthitis (viral infection) or bppv (loose otoconia in the inner ear fluid).  A flight should not aggravate your problem but i would take 12.5 mgm. Of meclizine.  Bppv is self limited and can respond to head exercises. Good luck.

i clean my ears frequently and i have some cracking noises in one of my ears and its starting to bother me with this cold i did some research it could be etd or tintus
