Depends a lot: on factors such as enlargement, consistency, associated diseases, and general medical condition.  If it is an isolated finding and associated with viral infection such as zoster, it should resolve with time.  If it is enlarging and feels hard, your doctor will probably recommend biopsy.  In general, enlarged lymph nodes are most likely caused by infection or inflammation, but lymphoma is possible.

i have jugulodigastric lymph node 3.5cm x 0.6cm  multiple doctors say it's ok, normal. refuse to biopsy. why?

Mine's almost as big: These are common. Ask any physician who does a good, complete physical exam. If the mass is clearly a lymph node and not a submandibular gland tumor, and is not hard or stuck to a nearby structure, it would be a terrible idea to biopsy it. The chances of it being tumor are very low, it's not going to be resection-for-cure, and that area is full of important stuff. Been offered a fine needle?

Uncertain: Since it has been there a yea  it  sounds  like  low risk. You could  consider a biopsy if you wish. Discuss with your physician

Close follow : Lymph nodes enlarge in reaction to infection or inflammation most commonly. Enlarged lymph nodes are generally > 1.5 cm, so yours is on the small side. You need a detailed history from doctor and exam.  A needle aspiration or surgical excisional biopsy can be considered  to get more information about it.  Nothing  to worry about but you should be the-examined in 2-3  months

pea sized occipital lymph node & 1.4cm jugulodigastric lymph node, both left hand side of neck. been like this months. what is this?

Is it stable in size: As long as this is stable in size over a period of months, and hasn't increased any further. Nothing else is recommended. If you are willing to have a biopsy performed, you'll want to see an ENT physician, however it may not be paid for by your insurance. Keep an eye it, and if it increases in size tell your doctor who ordered the ultrasound of your neck. Watchful waiting is best.

i had ultrasound on jugulodigastric lymph node that measured 1.8 x 0.8 x 3.6 cm but then i had a ct scan that said "no lymphadenopathy"  why is this?

Yes you do: Less than 1.5 cm is by convention not enlarged, assuming CT was done on neck scanning your jugulogastric node area. The question next is how to verify and what to do, best to check with oncologist in your area, and moffitt cancer center is near you, so pls take advantage of these resource to get to the bottom of your concern.

Needs to be watched: Your lymph node size is more than it should normally be. Why did you have the test done? What did your doctor advise you to do next? 
I would advise you to watch this node to see if it is growing in size. You should also have your doctor recheck these nodes periodically like in 
3 months time from now to make sure that nothing serious is going on to cause this nodal enlargement.

Probable dusease: Lymph Nodes in this region and of this size can be palpated and for the most part represents tumor. The jugular chain is often involved with thyroid tumor and lymphoma.  In region of digastric muscle and with leukoplakia from oral cavity need to r.o. a squamous primary.  Excisional bx. is essential hereto make dx.

Lots of things: Swollen lymph nodes may be swollen due to inflammation, infection, lymphoma, cancer, sarcoid or castlemann's disease.

I am sure there are other possibilities but off the top of my head these seem to be the most common.

Sometimes >1 cm: On ct scans, sometimes >1 cm is called enlarged, but in certain parts of the body 6-9mm may be called enlarged, when radiologists are looking for cancer. An important question is why is the lymph node the size it is, whether it is 8mm, 18mm, or 28mm. For example, in normal children, many of them have neck lymph nodes 1 cm or bigger.
