Heart not likely: Your symptoms are not typical for heart. Most likely they are musculoskeletal in origin with many other possible causes possible as well. Keeping a log with your symptoms, including activities may only help in trying to identify a possible pattern. Having workup should help in clarifying. Anxiety is usually part of the complex.

have burning in upper chest. had ekg, stress test, doppler on heart, ldct scan of lungs. egd. nothing is wrong. but i keep getting this. my egd did not show acid reflux. all blood work great. any clue? it just comes out of the blue. been to er?

: It appears that you've excluded cardiac,pulmonary &amp; esophageal causes of your symptoms. Only parasthesias of the rib cage origin is left. This is akin to peripheral neuropathy symptoms which occur in hands&amp; feet but can also occur in the chest. I don't know if you're interested in a trial of taking a medication like gabapentin to see if it prevents the burning sensation in your chest.

: Perhaps you should take a medicine to treat heart burn and see if this resolves the chest burning just to be certain it is not due to reflux, even though evidence of this was not seen on endoscopy. There could still be reflux occurring that was not seen. If this does not resolve the issue, perhaps seeing a neurologist to see if there is a chest wall neuropathy that would explain your symptoms.

i have acid reflux and i have been having intermittent itchy skin. can these two be related? i tried various skin lotions but it didn't help. my liver blood test have come normal. is the itchy skin an internal issue or because of dry skin?

Stress related: You may stress  that cause your reflux and cause your skin to be itch  intermittently. You may want to look into  this mental aspect.

little stomach pain, little nausea off and on and burping

just had a good colonoscopy and excellent yearly blood work..
is this my acid reflux acting up?

: While reflux appears likely, other conditions cannot be ruled out. For that reason if your symptoms persist your main doc should be aware as a focused exam along with possible tests and/or therapeutic trial will be needed.

i've had acid reflux & stomach pains (1st lower left, now upper left) for 9 months. all blood work normal but no xrays or scans done. what could it be?

Multiple possibility: Progression on the left side suggests possibly colon in origion but it can also be referred pain from the ovaries.  I suggest you start with a pelvic exam to make sure you do not have an ovarian mass.  Then proceed with furter imaging as dictated by that exam.

have acid reflux my lipase levels were 96h (normal levels are 7-60ul), did another blood test 3 weeks later now my lipase went down 82h (still mild elevated) and amylase is normal. is it pancreatitis or reflux causing elevated lipase levels ?

: It is possible to have resolving pancreatitis because amylase would go down before lipase. It is also possible that what you think is symptom of acid reflux may actually be coming from the pancreas and possibly subacute or chronic pancreatitis. Acid reflux disease does not usually cause elevated enzymes.

is acid reflux(gerd) associated with liver issues? i was recently diagnosed with nafld and it seems like my gerd has been worse too. my alt/ast was elevated, and now im having bad acid reflux. what is my best course of getting better ?

Two issues. : Acid reflux disorders are one problem, generally described as GERD. An increase in ALT/AST is a separate issue. The level of these elevations is key. If it is mild elevation, could be fatty infiltration of liver, for example. Obesity and/or diabetes can underlie both issues going on. A gastroenterologist can get at the bottom of the issues.

No it does not.: The symptoms may lessen as the edema or swelling, decreases , but the disk tissue does not go completely away.

i have acid reflux. is it common to cough up blood?

Accepted Answer

No: Coughing up blood is not typical from reflux. This could be a sign of something more serious if you really are coughing up the blood. You should consult with your physician and be evaluated for this.
