i have elevated chlamydia trachomata igg antibodies. iga is normal. std swabs and urine tests are negative. what does this mean? do i need further testing or therapy? i dont have symptoms?

: The chlamydia blood tests are pretty much useless. Your positive results only mean you probably had chlamydia sometime in the past. Assuming your negative swab and urine tests were nucleic acid amplification tests (NAATs), the negative results prove you do not have it now. FYI, one of the world's top centers for research in chlamydia diagnosis, including NAAT, is at University of Vienna.

my ccp ab, igg was 221 what would be the safest treatment to go on? will it bring that number down?

Accepted Answer

It depends on other: It depends on other tests and your exam.  The ccp antibody is seen with rheumatoid.  Your rheumatologist will interpret this in conjunction with lab findings.  Also your x-rays will determine what medication you will go on as well your medical history.  The number that we would want to reduce instead of the ccp is any elevated levels of inflammation such sed rate and crp.  Hope that helps.

NO: Igg testing only indicates exposure to a particular item (food, drug, etc).  Ige testing is considered the gold-standard for evaluation of allergies currently and can be demonstrated by skin or blood testing.

Depends: Depends on what is is the infusion. You should have a consultation with the physician who is prescribing the infusion. If you do not get a good answer get a second opinion from a pediatric endocrinologist.

: HSV1 typically causes oral cold sores, more rarely genital sores. This test indicates past exposure and that it is somewhere in your system (the virus finds a home in nerve cells). If you don't get outbreaks there is nothing for you to do since there is no treatment to eliminate it. If you get outbreaks (which is when you could pass it to others) there are treatments that can help to suppress it.

my igg hsv-1 came back to 1.06, is this considered equivocal or a positive? the range says equivocal is .91-1.09, but the office notified me saying my results are positive and need to seek treatment. should i retest and when? is this a positive?

Accepted Answer

: The typical normal range for HSV IgG is less than 0.9. Therefore anything over this can be considered positive. Valacyclovir (Valtrex) is available for treatment of positive HSV. Talk to your ordering Dr for follow up on this positive test and treatment.

Not enough info: A positive cytomegalovirus IGg Antibody means you have had cytomegalovirus infection sometime in the past (like the majority of people living on this earth).  Does not mean you have infection at this time.

Prior infection: With both IgG antibodies to rubella and CMV, there is support that you have either been immunized against rubella (our goal) or previously infected by the viruses. Unfortunately, blood tests don't tell when you were infected, unless you had before and after blood tests.  Once immune, there is low risk to further pregnancies and is an unlikely cause of spontaeous abortions.

what is the significance of a positive igm & igg in a patient of typhoid after the patient is asymptomatic? does the patient need further treatment?

Accepted Answer

Not necessarily: The IgM may be a residual of the recent infection, the IgG indicates long-term protection.  If you have no symptoms otherwise, no further treatment is needed.  If the IgM remains elevated months from now, then it may indicate the presence of a persistent low-grade infection.
