Hernia repair: A cytocele is a hernia of the pelvic floor in women.  Correction of the hernia involves placing  the bladder above the area of the hernia and then repairing the hernia so the bladder does not fall back through again.   That can be done by using your own tissue, or using grafts.

Traditional repairs: Vaginally placed mesh is the mesh you refer to.  The area of dissection by surgeons who do a lot of this type of surgery has changed since the development of mesh.  We are now doing the traditional repairs with "full thickness" dissection that was learned with the development of meshes.  The jury is still out on the long term objective data regarding cure rates with all of the cystocele repairs.

Not, but serious: Mesh erosions and infections are uncommon but very serious complications of pelvic surgery.    There is heightened awareness due to recent fda reports looking closer at these products.  Overall they are safe, but should only be used in carefully selected pts. Who need this surgery and in experienced hands.  Seek out a dr. Who perfoms many of these operations and follow post op instructions exactly.

Usually: The repair will help correct the bladder and rectal prolapse. Vaginal narrowing can occur as a result of the surgical repair.

Incomplete emptying: The most common reason is incomplete bladder emptying followed closely by urinary tract obstruction. You need to see a Urogynecologist or Urologist to do urodynamic testing and possible cystoscopy to find out why post cystocele repair.

See your Gyne: If you had a cystocele repair 11 weeks ago, and you felt a pop upon straining on the toilet, you may have popped a stitch. See the gynecologist who did your surgery.  You are still in the post operative period and there should be no cost for the visit.

Surgery complication: You have had multiple surgical complications since your original cystocoele repair. Post surgery the healing process can cause a major change in the anatomy from adhesions &amp; scarring when incurring multiple subsequent surgeries from complications and possible infection from mesh  use.  No, this is not completely normal and a 2nd opinion is warranted with a GYN MD Urogynecologist.

Surgeon preference : Specific recommendations for lifting after this type of surgery will need to be made by the surgeon who knows exactly what was done during the procedure. A good role is to let your body be your guide. If it hurts don't do it
