Yes and no: If you have a swelling at the tip of the elbow posterior, that is bursitis.  You could have just swelling from the injury.  If infected, it would be hot and red.

Technically 1 year: One if you have a fracture you need to get an xray.  85% of swelling will be better by 8 weeks.  The 15% occurs over the year and after a facture that elbow may be slightly more swollen permanently.

Inflammation: Swelling of an area that has been injured is typically caused by inflammation and the recruitment of fluid into the area from your blood vessels to address the injury. Alternating Ice and warm compresses (10 minutes each with 10 minutes between) can help to reduce inflammation and allow for good drainage from the area. If the swelling persists more than 5 days, see your Dr for exam.

Olecranon bursitis: Its the joint fluid between bones inflammed. Use simple support brace, antiinflammatory meds if safe for u, avoid extra use and pressure for 2 weeks, see dr if not improved or worse.
