why do i need to get an ekg and a chest x-ray before i have a colonoscopy?

Might not: Routinely, I do not get EKG or chest xray pre colonoscopy unless the patient is over 40 and has not had regular medical care. This is usually a preference of the endoscopist, anesthesiologist or facilty requirements.

Pulse: Are you very thin? This is a normal artery pulsating. Have you lost more weight recently? If you have been having diarrhea you need to drink plenty fluids, like gatorade, avoid juices.

Abdominal pain: Is the pain after eating?  Has it responded to any medications? Are any of your blood tests abnormal?  Liver function tests done?  During the hida scan, did they calculate your gallbladder ejection fraction?  Perhaps you ought to consider a second opinion.

my sister has a hemoglobin level of 4.  she is on her 3rd bag of blood transfusion.  they can not find where the bleeding is coming from.  colonoscopy, endoscopy, chest x-ray and ekg were all ok.  what should be her next step?

Full history and physical occupational exposures meds family surgical history all needed. At first glimpse I would add full pulmonary function tests / stress echo and cardiology consultation. Trial of bronchodilator therapy and allergy testing. Do you have hives

That implies that there may be an effect on the nervous system. What can this be  here is a small list amyloidosis, lyme, HIV, SLE, lead toxicity

: So far the work up does not suggest or support the diagnosis of ovarian cancer and your symptoms are too non specific. Would suggest focusing on avoiding constipation, fiber, hydration, physical exercise and further investigate upper gi symptoms. Your doc remains your best reference at this point.
