Earwax not related: Tinnitus is ringing in the ears caused by damage to the hearing nerve. Earwax typically has to do with local hearing loss not tinnitus. Earwax can locally block hearing. Tinnitus is ringing heard at the frequency of the damage and is essentially the brain thinking it heard a sound at that frequency when there is no sound. Treatment is not very effective for tinnitus but is for ear wax removal.

Many reasons: Sorry for the vague answer, but tinnitus (ringing in the ear/ears, ) is poorly understood and difficult to treat.  It can be caused by many  different sources, including too much Aspirin ingestion, trauma, infections, and tmd.  I would first start with an ENT doctor.  Tinnitus can be devastating to the sufferer.

i keep hearing clicking sounds in my left ear and sometimes both. its very slight sound and it goes away when i pinch my nose and blow with my mouth shut. but it comes back again.iam scared is it tinnitus? or earwax? is it something to worry about?

: This is most likely the natural reaction of the Eustachian tubes between the middle ear and throat opening and closing. The tube allows mucus made on the inner walls of the middle ear to drain into the throat &amp; air to enter the middle ear and equalize the inside pressure to the outside. I would ignore this I expect it whenever your jaw moves in certain ways. It has no worrisome meaning..

i have tinnitus and my dr ruled out an infection or earwax as a cause. he said i have s pathological process going on. what does this mean?

Too  non-specific: Your doctor has the responsibility to answer your questions in a more specific fashion.  Tinnitus or a sound in the ear or head in the absence of an external source of sound does not have to be associated with a pathological process.  You need a hearing test to rule out the rare possibility of an acoustic tumor.  If you have a high frequency hearing loss, that is the most common cause of tinnitus.

No easy way: Tinnitus is a result of some form of hearing dysfunction or hearing loss. The cells in you brain that are designed to receive signals from a certain frequency of hearing are no longer getting that input due to the hearing loss. These cell then become overactive and branch out to nearby cell and that is basically the cause of tinnitus.We can only investigate the cause of hearing loss that causes it.

about a month ago, i had a few moments where my hearing went muffled then unclogged. however, now i have had muffled hearing and tinnitus for quite a while now. i cant see earwax and ear drops have not worked and im scared. any help is appreciated?

had impacted earwax   now  most is  gone but feels like a bit left ... is it dangerous to plug in headphones into my ear any risk of tinnitus ?

Always a risk: if hearing damage with earphones if the volume is to high. Hearing damage leads to tinnitus, which is the brains attempt to compensate for the frequencies you can no longer hear.  The wax in your ear will have no bearing on damage from the headphones. Keep the sound level reasonable and you should be fine.

ears ringing & muffled sometimes. doctor said i didnt have infection but a buildup of earwax. i heard brain tumors can cause tinnitus. should i worry?

No: It would be useful to see an ENT specialist for your peace of mind and to have your ears cleaned out. Brain tumors as cause of hearing problems are uncommon.
