Clogged ears: It is common when someone flies with a cold or bad allergy. During the descend, barometric pressure outside the ear drum is rising but the middle pressure remains low due to eustachian tube dysfunction. People with frequent childhood chronic otitis media are also prone to this. See your primary care doctor first.

Eustachian tube: You may have, because of the changes in pressure, ruptured your eardrum, bled into it, or most likely had closure or dysfunction of the tube leading from your middle ear to the back of your throat. You might try using a decongestant (pseudoephedrine or oxymetozaline) which your friendly pharmacist can provide. If does not work, see your doctor.

Ear Tube Antics: The eustachian tube connects the middle ear to the back of the throat.  When swallowing or yawning, the tube helps equalize air pressure by opening and closing.  When flying at altitude in a pressurized cabin, the normal function of the tube can be altered, especially if inflamed by an illness.  Water consumption can help open/close the tube, but avoid blowing the nose too hard; time will fix it!

Clogged ears : If you can't pop your ears to unclog them you can try antihistamines such as zyrtec and Allegra as well as nasal decongestant spray for a couple of days.  If no improvement check your doctor -you might have fluid build up in the middle ear.

After effects linger: It is possible to have a cold for 5-7 days, but to have lingering runny nose, postnasal drip, congestion of the nose, sinuses, and ears. If you are worsening or things suddenly worsen, " double sickening",  then it may be a bacterial infection.  You should consider seeing your doctor at this point
