my son got his earring stud stuck in his earlobe asking is their anything i can do to get it out or is this a er. thing?

ICE IT: and apply some vaseline.......the ice may shrink the tissue enough to "unstick" the stud and the vaseline will lubricate assisting removal....
The ER is last resort...see if there is a Walk In (Urgent Care Center in a Drug Store or local facility!

my earring stud is stuck inside my ear. i tried pushing it back up to the front but i can't because the hole seems to be closed up and it hurts too much to do so. is there anyway i could just pull the whole thing out through the back or will that tear my

See your Doc: If the hole has closed it needs to be numbed up and cut open to get the stud out. Pushing it through may create a bigger whole and greater scar. It has to come out though because it will get infected.

Generally, : Generally, when an infant / toddler ingests something that they are not supposed to, the old adage, "this, too, shall pass" comes to mind.  However, there are certain objects, when ingested, that can be a bit more concerning such as large objects (like coins especially quarters or larger), sharp or odd-shaped objects (pins, glass, bones), or small batteries (watch or button batteries).
Whether the earrings had the backings on them when ingested or not, the sharp ends could be cause for some concern.
A simple series of plain x-rays done at your local emergency department (ed) or at your pediatrician's office can confirm whether or not the earrings or other metallic foreign bodies were actually ingested.  Some physicians also recommend daily x-rays to check on the "progress" of ingested foreign bodies to ensure passage.
If you toddler exhibits any fever, abdominal pain, vomiting, blood in stools, drooling, neck swelling, cough, wheezing, or difficulty breathing, i would recommend taking him immediately to the nearest ed or call 911.
Should you choose not to seek care, it generally takes 2-4 days for ingested foreign bodies to move through the GI tract of an infant / toddler.

alcohol pads usually easiest way...but why dothey need to be sterilized...???

Remove it: If the starter bud had dug into the tissue, it runs the risk of getting embedded in the tissue and then possibly infected. Remove the starter bud and replace it with another longer stem earring. If the earlobe is red and tender you may need antibiotics.

As a concept?: Fashion aside, yes you can be allergic to some of the less expensive metals used. Look for posts made from surgical/stainless steel, silver or gold. Avoid nickel, as the most common cheaper metal used that is notorious for allergy / sensitivity reactions.

Not the silver: rather the alloy, unfortunately pure silver jewelry isn't available,  expensive and difficult to hold its shape, needs to be harnessed by other metals in an alloy, if you are allergic to a certain type, you might want to look for a more purified form, if still allergic, you need to avoid exposure, no way around it

Yes: Nickel or chromium are metals that are often "mixed" with stainless steel to give it more durability, or shine, or strength.  Thus, if one is allergic to nickel or chromium, they can have a reaction to stainless steel earrings.

Accepted Answer

Yes indeedy !: It certainly is. That is why you need to clean them at least three times a day when they have just been pierced.
