Not usually: The organism that causes strep throat, Group A streptococcus, is less often the cause of an ear infection in most cases (it can).  Usually inflammation in the throat translates to ear pain and vice versa.  Many viruses of course cause pain in both areas.  If you are receiving treatment already for the ear, then a sore throat may be normal in the coarse of recovery.  Fluids and rest are a must

Strep throat: Whether the treatment is oral or intramuscular antibiotics, strep bacteria in the throat is wiped out in 24 hours when one is no longer contagious. The advantage of the shot is that it lasts for 10 days provided it was la bicillin. Oral meds should be taken daily for 10 days to prevent complications from the infection.

Strep throat: If you &quot;finished&quot; getting strep throat, that is, you have an infection, then you need to get a throat culture.

No: An ear infection is always secondary to an infection, viral or bacterial in the back of the nose.  Never the other way around.  That is, an ear infection  does not lead to a throat infection.
It is most likely that a throat/nose infection, usually viral leads to an ear infection.  Incidentally, Streptococcus is not a common bacterial cause of otitis media.

It should. ...: You don't mention how much your child weighs, so it is  to say for certain the dose he's on is correct.  Most of the time the dosage used for strep throat is  for an ear  infection as well,  especially in a 5 year old.  In younger kids we sometimes use higher dosing for otitis,  but  Amoxicillin for strep/ears is  a  good regimen.

See remark: It is CONCERNING ! Has he been seen by a pediatrician ?,family doctor ? If you are close to a medical center ,children hospital, this 6 yr old MUST be evaluated ,otherwise the child will have serious    
future consequences.

Maybe,maybe not: It may just be fluid trapped behind a swollen eustachian tube. If it is an ear infection, plain penicillin may not be an effective drug to fix it. A followup with your doc may be necessary to sort this out.

STREP  TONSILLITIS: Strep tonsillitis and ear infection and possibly  adenitis  bilateral.She should be on antibiotic like Amoxil (amoxicillin) for 10 days to take care of these multiple infections and to be rechecked after treatment.

: Depending on the time of the year between 5 &amp;20% of people can carry strep and not be ill with it or have signs. There is controversy as to whether asymptomatic strep carriers need treatment. Ear infections require an exam to diagnose but may not have fever.
