Other options: There may be another immune-suppressing drug that could help you. If so, it would be great if it allowed you to be weaned onto a lower dose of prednisone.

Depends on cause: Treatment depends on what is causing the pleurisy. Bacterial infections are treated with antibiotics. Surgery may be needed to drain infected fluid from the lungs.
Viral infections normally run their course without medications. Patients often can control the pain of pleurisy with Acetaminophen or anti-inflammatory drugs such as ibuprofen. Recovery depends on what was causing it.

Treatments should be directed towards the underlying cause such as antibiotics for the bacterial infection. Nonsteroidal antiinflammatory drugs can help control the pain associated with it.

Huh?: Pleurisy is a clinical diagnosis -- it isn't diagnosed by stethoscope, crackles or none. If the examiner hears a friction rub, maybe -- but bacterial pleurisy without some other findings is very uncommon and ampicillin is inappropriate for any other suspected etiology. If this is pleurodynia or post-zoster neuralgia, it's pain management until it resolves in its own. Best wishes.

and fever ? then that's enough to make the diagnosis but to know what caused the Pleurisy if you don't have a viral infection more investigation is needed. Treatment usually is pain control and treating the underlying cause.

Lupus: Dry mouth is related to lupus. Involment of the salivary glands, a side effect of your meds, or systemic effects of lupus may  lead to the dryness, especially breathing problems,  mouth breathing at night. You should have a complete evaluation to see what might help best. Treatment may be a mouth moisturizer or a humidifer at bedside. A breathing test for sleep apnea may be needed.
