Sips: Drink room temperature fluids and sip. If even those won't stay down and you are becoming weak you should be seen. You may need some anti nausea/vomiting medication and IV fluids. I hope this passes soon for you!

i get gas every time i eat. this has been happening since i got the stomach flu 6 months ago. i couldn't drink milk for a while also. what is this?

Excessive gas: This could be as a result of the food you eat ,enzyme deficiency or rapid eating and even smoking.Needless to say,there are multiple causes. Eat slowly,chew food thoroughly, avoid carbonated beverages,limit air swallowing,avoid smoking,limit dairy products,pre-soak beans prior to cooking and consuming and limit high fiber diet

my friend had the stomach flu 3 nights ago and was fine today, eating and drinking normally. i am emetophobic and worried if they are still contagious?

2 weeks or more: You friend be contagious from a few days up to two weeks or more, depending on which virus is causing the stomach flu (gastroenteritis). A number of viruses can cause gastroenteritis, including noroviruses and rotaviruses.

what can i eat/drink to stay hydrated during the stomach flu? haven't been able to keep anything down for days.

Be careful: If you are unable to keep anything down and are not urinating, your urine is extremely dark and minimal in volume, you feel light-headed when standing up, your mouth is dry or other mucous membranes are dry, see a doctor.  You may need intravenous fluids or antinauseants that will allow you to drink things like gatorade or other fluids with electrolytes.

Mild dehydration: You seem to be recovering from so called stomach virus.  Taking enough balanced fluid such as gatorade is all you need to do.

Stomach flu: If this is from a virus or just from  something upsetting your stomach it is unlikely to reoccur

You are: probably swallowing air!!!  Eat SLOWLY and avoid drinking the Gatorade WHILE you are eating the crackers!  You are doing the right thing!  Keep it up but if not resolving in a WEEK call your PCP!

That's fine: Hi. A viral gastroenteritis ("stomach flu") will resolve with tincture of time. You do need to stay well hydrated. Gatorade gives you fluid, electrolytes, and a little sugar (helps prevent catabolism). Jello provides sugar and protein. Grape juice provides fluid and sugar. I've never heard the pretzel thing, but if you're tolerating them, they're OK I guess. Just make sure you stay well hydrated.

.: Do not give medications to stop diarrhea. It will make symptoms worse. If no fever and if feeding well and voiding urine well let it run it's course. A medication to stop loose stool will make the child very sick.

Another day, maybe: Usually young people such as yourself bounce back quite quickly from viral gastroenteritis.  I presume you had IV fluids if you measured it in 1000 ml/1 liter. And you've been drinking water. Keep it up, take it easy until you feel better/less dizzy. Should not be more than 48 hours more.  See doc again if longer.  Good wishes:)
