: The best answer here is that the colon cleans itself  and does not need any additional medicines or chemicals to aid it. However, if you feel that it is necessary, the best way to help the function of the colon is with a high fiber diet, and perhaps a fiber supplement such as a high fiber cereal or Metamucil on a daily basis, along with plentiful liquids. Bad Medicine: Amazing. Here is your question as a physician see's it. I want to live healthy and I am undergoing a colon cleanse to get rid of toxins and such. But, I have to drink.  

I think that drinking alcohol is going to counter balance any thing you are attempting to do with a cleanse.  

If you cannot go for even one day without drinking perhaps we should start there and not with a colon cleanse.

What is in the: Tablet? It is very likely that there are no beneficial ingredients in the "chinese diet tablet" and you are exposing yourself to unknown chemicals. You would be better served by having a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, nuts; low in saturated fats; no tobacco and no more than one drink a day. Exercise for about 30 minutes each day.

must i have contrast injection during virtual colonoscopy? what about drinking barium? can virtual colon be done without one or both of these?

Yes: The virtual colonoscopy can be done without using any contrast material and just using carbon dioxide or room air into the bowel. The procedure is relatively new and constantly changing.

does a mri enterography always require a enema during the test? or can i just flush my system myself and drink contrast to get good picture of the colon? is there a imaging that doesn't require anything up the butt?

: Examination of the colon radiographically usually entails injection of a contrast "up the butt". Do talk to your doctor to see if an MRI alone may suffice and not require contract injection from below. Drinking contrat is not a practical way to visualize cololn.

does colon cancer still cause constipation if you have a good diet exercise enough and drink enough i don't have it but i do have bad constipation and im worried about it and i'm thinking if i fixed my diet and exercise and i doesn't improve see doc?

: Constipation is thought by some, to predispose to colon cancer by having certain substances in fecal matter being exposed to the colon and rectum for abnormally prolonged periods. However, in my opinion,this is mainly speculation as studies have shown both no relationship and possible relationship to benign and malignant growths in the colon. Yes...but not likely: You should really be examined. It's not normal to have rectal bleeding, especially at 33. Cancer is a remote possibility. More likely  would be benign anorectal disease, or inflammatory bowel disease. Being a teatotaler doesn't make much difference. Please seek a medical evaluation.  Good luck.

if i don't poop every day, but i don't struggle when i do, do i have higher chance for colon ca?  i also don't eat much fiber, but drink 8-10c water.

Probably OK: Low fiber diet and/or constipation (often found together) can increase risk of colon ca. If stool ok, not everyone has 1+ bm/day. Can always do "rough count" of the roughage (=fiber) in your diet to see if about 20-30grams/day [visit: http://www.Nutritionquest.Com/wellness/free-assessment-tools-for-individuals/fruit-vegetable-fiber-screener/ ]  most of us need more in general. Water is good!

my dad has stage 4 colon cancer, he hasn't eaten in 5 days, he's drinking fluids, sleeping 80% of the day, and has bad jaundice. how much longer?

Why terrified: The real question to ask is why are you terrified of colon cancer. Family history?  One hereditary condition, known as familial adenomatous polyposis, patients could develop colon polyps at a very young age and colon cancer could appear before age 20.  Loss of appetite has many origins. Are there other stressors in your life. Suggest discussing further with your primary care. Best wishes to you.
