Why terrified: The real question to ask is why are you terrified of colon cancer. Family history? One hereditary condition, known as familial adenomatous polyposis, patients could develop colon polyps at a very young age and colon cancer could appear before age 20. Loss of appetite has many origins. Are there other stressors in your life. Suggest discussing further with your primary care. Best wishes to you.

Cancer phobia: The only way to deal with the fear of cancer is to learn what you can about it. It is extremely unlikely that you have it at your age with no strong family history, but if you are afraid, get a 'scope done -- stemming fear is worth it. Further, if you are actually losing weight because you're not eating, there are a variety of possible causes. A physician's office visit is in order.
