May need a procedure: A seroma (fluid collection) after tummy tuck is not unusual. Typically it occurs within the first few weeks and is handled with periodic removal with a needle (aspiration). Along with a compression binder to keep the space collapsed, a bit of time and patience is usually adequate treatment. Occasionally a drain is placed attached to suction . Further treatment may require a minor second surgery.

Swelling : Swelling five days after a tummy tuck is normal; however, if the swelling is increasing and is associated with increasing pain you should call you plastic surgeon and have it checked out.

Lower tummy skin: A mini tummy tuck differs from a full tummy tuck ("abdominoplasty") in that the separated muscles ("diastasis") are not repaired as high up, there is not a scar around the belly button, less skin is removed and the length of the scar is not as long.  Both require a similar recovery (6 weeks) for full healing of the muscle repair.
