Western eyelid: Eyelids which have a higher crease are said to be double eyelids.  In caucasians, the eyelid crease is 7-10mm above the eyelashes and when open there are two distinct portions of the lid separated by a crease. In Asian eyelids, the crease is generally much lower, often so low that even when open, the crease disappears by the eyelashes.  Double eyelid surgery creates a higher crease.

Usually, not long: Eyelid skin is the thinnest, best healing skin of the body, and usually heals quickly and well from eyelid surgery. Of course, any scar will look a little red after a couple of weeks, but eyelid scars tend to lighten and fade quicker than  any other area - typically the scars can be hidden with makeup after a couple of weeks. Many patients have almost invisible scars within a few months.

Yes: You can induce astigmatism of the cornea which can cause double vision by pressing on the eye or eyelid.  You can also stimulate retinal cells which will leave a scotoma or after image by pressing on the more posterior aspects of the eye.

Upper &amp; Lower?: It is safe to perform upper and lower eyelid lifts at the same time if that is what is required.  There is generally more swelling in both afterward.  Over the years I find that I do less lower eyelid skin excision and more fat injection and laser resurfacing of the lower lids, in conjunction with upper blepharoplasty.  However some folks have significant lower eyelid skin that requires excision.

Double eyelid : Yes, it is common to have revision surgery or even alternative procedures, depending on your anatomy and circumstances. If you had a suture procedure as a teen, you may consider an incision procedure especially if it is in the context of aging eyelid surgery.
