Repeat Ultrasound: Please repeat ultrasound in 3 days. One needs to see that the follicles are growing. I need more info a swell. Are you using any hormones to induce ovulation? What is the concern? Good Luck!

endometriosis suspected, us perfomed. left ovary measured 1.5x2.7 x3 cm with dominant follicle. 6 mo. later extreme pain on left.  could it be a cyst?

Accepted Answer

Possible : It is possible to have severe pain from an ovarian cyst. In addition there many other causes that can do this. A sonogram 6 months prior would not be very helpful in making the current diagnosis.

4.1 x 2.0 x 2.3 cm. dominant follicle in the left ovary measuring up to 2.0 cm in diameter.

Normal sized: ovaries with a pending ovulatory cyst.  Timed intercourse may allow conception as you wish.

Probably normal: sounds like a maturing follicle cyst during normal ovulation. These can get much larger than 1.5cm (less than 1 inch), and usually go away by 3 months. Most are not painful. In other words, that is normal.

Can't predict: The 1 cm follicle you see now may not necessarily become the dominant follicle.  There's probably a higher than average chance for it to; but it's not a given.  The timing is usually a retrospective marker (e.g. tracked backwards) in the absence of biochemical confirmation.  So, predictably, ovulation occurs about 14 days before onset of menses.  So, in your case, that would be about Day #21.

Ovulating..: The ovary consists of bunch of follicles...each containing a ovum......every month ( cycle ) one follicle matures...gets bigger and ruptures to discharge the ovum. So you had the big follicle on lt ovary for that time.

Normal finding: An antral follicle count is often used to determine baseline fertility. 16-30 follicles is normal, any less might be concerning for decreased reserve which is often seen with aging. Any more is concerning fur poly cystic ovarian syndrome.

i have done my usg og whole abdomen.it show 7 mm regular trip line endometrium and 24mm follicle seen in left ovary.what does it mean?

Normal: At 24 years of age, this is a normal almost midcycle ultrasound. Ovarian follicles are usually around 20-25mm in diameter with the endometrial stripe measuring 8-12mm at the time of ovulation.
