Talk with doctor: They usually do cone down views to look at the area closer, and if ok they will usually follow up in 6 months. Your doctor will have the exact reports and can tell you what they recommend.

i had a recent mammogram and it came back with the following. i am called back for additional imaging. can anyone help explain the report. a 9 mm mass in the posterior upper outer left breast and calcifications in the superior left breast at mid dept?

: That area is a common location for breast malignancy. In addition to having an additional imaging study, set up an appointment with a breast surgeon as soon as possible.

Oxymoron: Microcalcifications are usually described as either punctate (benign) or pleomorphic (in determinant to suspicious) not both.  Ultimate definitive diagnosis may require tissue sampling that is best done via stereotactic guided core biopsy.  See a breast surgeon for further evaluation.

Needs biopsy: Suspicious cluster opleomorphic microcalcifications on mgram may be due to breast cancer. Therefore you need to undergo a biopsy. Usually they sggest a stereotactic biopsy which is a type od percutaneous needle biopsy n a special x-ray table. Please follow with a breast carer specialist or a radiologist experien in this procedure.

had my first mammogram and report says: focal asymmetries are in the inner and upper central left breast at middle depth. no suspicious calcifications are in the left breast. what does this mean?

: Did you ask the requesting Physician to explain the results.  As I interpret the findings, your left breast has a little different “configuration” internally, but there are no hard, firm “masses” in the left breast.  But, please ask your treating Physician about the results.

had my first mammogram yesterday & have "probably benign" calcifications in right breast. radiologist dr asked me to go back in 6 months. we are trying to conceive & they don't do mammograms in the first trimester. what to do if i get pregnant? thx.

Live your life: You're a bit on the young side for a mammogram and so I do not know if you have risk factors that warrant early mammography.  The purpose of doing a test is to look for an answer to a question, unfortunately, we have to learn to live with "probabilities" in this world.  I would not personally put my life on hold because another exam was "suggested" in 6 mos.  Keep trying to conceive if you desire.

post menopausal. sometimes have tingling / dull pain in left breast. no discharge, do not feel lumps, breast looks normal. last mammogram 7/20. next is in 2 weeks. normal weight and very active. advice of what this could be?

: Cancer infrequently causes breast pain. Since it's only one breast that's bothering you, fluctuations in hormones may not be the cause. Clogging of a breast duct, tiny cysts, muscle or ligamental discomfort,ill fitting bra are some possibilities. Your upcoming mammogram should be reassuring, but if breast discomfort still occurs, consult a breast surgeon for peace of mind.

mammogram incidentally found vascular calcification, i have been going to cardiologist for chest pain for a few months. is this serious at my age? related? no diabetes or any other health problems?

: Where was the calcification?  in breast or heart.. Would be unusual to have at your age in heart unless you have family history of early heart disease and/or have been a smoker and/or had unrecognized high blood pressure or high lipids.  Discuss with your Cards.  Heart pain caused by exercise is often caused by heart artery narrowing from atherosclerosis which eventually becomes calcified..

Mammogram: If a mass seen on mammogram shows signs such as calcifications, cysts, masses etc that are associated with cancer, a biopsy will be recommended to know for sure. However these findings can also be seen in normal tissue. Only a biopsy will tell for sure. Try to relax for now and I would recommend following through with the biopsy

i had a breast biopsy done after my mammogram. the birad was 4a. when the biopsy was done, the doctor said he would be surprised if it was anything bad. its been 5 working days and i still havent heard from my doctor about the results. ?
