Not uncommon after: Quitting smoking for people to have second (and third) thoughts about it, to feel anxious and irritable.  If you quit cold turkey, and are having severe withdrawal symptoms or cravings, consider nicotine replacement therapy with lozenges, gum or patches.  If you are not in a smoking cessation program, strongly consider taking part in one - the support and suggestions can help a great deal.Congrats.

what is gout and can u get it even if u don't drink
and could it be deathly?

Gout is high uric : acid in your body that deposits in a joint causing inflammation. You either underexcrete or overproduce uric acid depending on your particular case. Alcohol is the chief offended but many foods rich in purine are culprits. Cheese and organ meats are the most common. The big toe is the most common joint affected. See a doctor to figure out if a prescription agent is warranted. cherry juice can help

she has been taking gout med for the back. it hasn't helped. any ideas what else it could be?

Where: The back is not a common site of gout flare up. Typically if you take Colchicine for gout it should get better. If it does not we often look for other causes.

what medication can one use for gout, if you have porphyria? as you can't use any anti inflamatory meds with porphyria... please help

Gout : You can us a medication for acute gout called colcrys(colchicine). There are medications to help prevent gout attacks called allopurinol.

No: With gout, you should follow a low purine diet.  Google a gout diet.  As with most anything, one has to moderate what is eaten. Chocolate in small or moderate amounts, all things being equal, can be eaten.  This will depend on how severely you have gout, whether you are on gout medications and other factors.  I'll bet you will do fine with small rewards.

Incease disease: Exposure to smoke (second hand) or even to clothes with smoke etc (third hand) are associated with increase in disease. Example children have an incresed chance of ear infections with both methods above.

Tobacco: significantly reduces the risk of dying from anything else.     But you'll likely die a premature death from tobacco related illness including various cancers, cardiovascular disorders and lung diseases

No: All tobacco products are potentially harmful and are best avoided.

Gout: It is very typical for gout attacks to be episodic.  What we do find if the uric acid levels are not controlled is the attacks coming more and more frequently over time.

good day. for the past few years i've had the odd acute gout attack, 1-2 per year. since late last year it has been consistent and i can't exercise. coltracine only helps symptoms and doesn't cure it. my diet has seen positive changes

Diet is hard: To treat gout. There are medications like allopurinol or uloric for example. Your doc might want to do a 24 hr urine to see if you are an overproducer or underexcretor of Uris acid and recommend treatment based on result.
