Yes: But if you are having knee pain and a plica was taken out and the pain is back , there is a cause for it to have developed in the first place. 

There is a need for a different perspective for your onset of pain.

i just had plica (knee surgery) about two months ago. is it possible for the plica to grow back?

Accepted Answer

No: Plicas only very rarely cause knee pain. When we do surgery to remove the plicas, they don't return. There can sometimes be a small amount of scar folds that develop in its place but they generally don't cause pain. If you have a return of pain, the plica was unlikely to be the cause of the original pain. Hope that helps!

Plica: Yes! if the factors causing the irritation on synovial mbrne continue, it can recur. A good chiropractor might have some answers to your persistent problem.

Usually not: A plica seen and removed during an arthroscopy of the knee usually does not come back since it is a congenital problem (ie born with it). It can cause chondromalacia (softening of the cartilage) where it rubbed against the femoral condyle. See your surgeon for answers he/she saw inside your knee and knows the situation best.

i was told i had plica syndrome and that my pain would get better. looking back at my files it shows i partially tore my acl. i still have pain, and now my mcl is inflamed and my plica is worse. how can i get rid of my pain?

: You need to see an orthopd and if he/ she thinks fit might need arthroscopy and treatment

4-6 weeks: 3-4 weeks assuming that nothing else was done. I would put no specific restrictions on you but would allow you to return to sports when you have full range of motion and no pain. Good luck

Weeks: Usual time for recovery is from 6 to 12 weeks.

will it cause more harm to wait to see dr? plica wore groove in patella, clipping stopped pain for a few years. now pain is back at random times. has locked up 2x in 1 year. pain mostly when walking or exercise?

: There is no complication with delayed intervention. You should limit the activities which exacerbate the pain.

mri came back clear of tears/loose bodies. but small suprapatellar effusion, trace knee effusion w/thin superior suprapatellar plica. future issues?

Maybe : The superior plica usually regresses. When it doesn't there may become a time when you need to get it taken care of. Still it doesn't seem to explain the effusion. Should it become obvious the plica is responsible then it will need to be taken care of
