Can relax the esopha: Peppermint oil, mints, altoids etc can all relax certain areas of the intestine, occasionally for esophageal symptoms it may help. For people with esophageal reflux, it could make the symptoms worse.
It is not a standard treatment for any condition.

May block intestinal: Peppermint is listed as "possibly effective" for colic, indigestion, nausea, tension headaches. It  is thought to act like a menthol or flavonoid by interfering in the production of smooth (autonomic nervous system) muscle contraction and stimulation of bile secretion.

4-5 times per day: Tea: steep 1 tsp. Dried peppermint leaves in 1 cup boiling water for 10 minutes; strain and cool. Drink 4 - 5 times per day between meals. Peppermint tea appears to be safe, even in large quantities.

Maybe: For some people mint actually aggravates and causes problems with acid reflux. Only way to find out is to try it.

There was a study: mymensingh med j. 2013 jan;22(1):27-30.
Efficacy of peppermint oil in diarrhea predominant ibs - a double blind randomized placebo - controlled study.

There it was found to be effective so you never know. Good luck!

Yes: There are no known harmful effects to taking peppermint oil with trimebutine maleate. In most cases, you can control mild symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome by learning to manage stress and changing your diet and lifestyle. Avoid foods that trigger your symptoms. Also try to get enough exercise, drink plenty of fluids, and get plenty of rest. Have you tried probiotics? Hope you feel better soon.

YES..: ..But make sure you have your GI specialist keep a keen eye on the barrett's.  Regular endoscopies with biopsy will be necessary to monitor dysplastic changes.

Yes, however...: Peppermint oil often reduces symptoms of IBS and appears safe to take for years. While safe and effective, it provides only symptomatic relief. I advise also trying to address the underlying causes, which are often related to overgrowth of yeast or unfriendly bacteria in the intestines and food sensitivities. See http://bit.ly/17hz82A

Peppermint: The best reference person in this regard is your OB doc. He knows your history and what's good and no so good, so i'd urge you to call him. Also, I am in doubt that peppermint would be helpful with ibs altogether. There's a good chance it may improve on its own, so if it is not very bothersome, i'd rather have you watch your symptoms.

It's not that simple: IBS describes a constellation of signs and symptoms that we are only beginning to understand. Though we know it involves the disruption of the microbiome, we have yet to know how to effectively restore  it, and how to address its neuro-psychiatric effects. Unfortunately, it is this ambiguity that has led many to have unrealistic expectations of a cure at this time.  Don't get discouraged!
