Olive oil.: While olive oil is one of the healthier oils as far as the proportions of healthy fasts versus unhealthy fats, it's still an oil, with 18 grams of fat per tablespoon, and could raise your LDL and triglycerides if you use too much.  That being said, an LDL of 106 is still pretty good.  But try to limit your use of oil in general.

Olive oil: Monounsaturated oil is a better choice than most oils. It does not raise hdl.

Different kinds fat: I know this is confusing! olive oil (particularly extra-virgin type) is rich in "monounsaturated" fat and antioxidants which lower LDL (bad cholesterol) without lowering HDL (good cholesterol) and without increasing triglycerides (bad fat).

Of course: His physician may have recommended limiting certain fats; olive-oil is actually a feature of the much-praised "mediterranean diet" that is supposed to slow atherosclerosis. Diet isn't the first-and-foremost way to manage most health problems. Perhaps the nicest thing you could do for him is to take up aerobic fitness yourself and perhaps he'll join in -- let him think it's his idea. Best wishes.

Cholesterol: Cholesterol ils an animal fat made in your liver for a variety of things.  The kind of fats you ingest are translated into the kind of cholesterol your liver produces. The vegetable fats are less likely to stimulate too much cholesterol production when compared to eating butter and other animal fats.

False statement: Olive oil does not lower LDL. Olive oil raises ldl less so compared to other fats.  Although there is some saturated fat in olive oil the major component is monounsaturated fat.  This topic is too complex for me to answer fully here. But suffice it to say... Small amounts of olive oil daily 1 tablespoon or less combined with a healthy diet is healthier than many other fats ( trans-fats&amp;sat. fats)

recently my ldl cholesterol jumped 21 point form 6 months ago. i eat one boiled egg every 5 days,. lot of peanuts, &olive oil should i stop the eggs.

Eat more vegetables: Plant sterols found in vegetables can lower ldl. Suggest to increase vegetable intake 4-5 cups daily and fruits 2-3 cups daily and repeat lipid panel in 3-6 months
