Depends: We all have e coli in our colon. It is present in tap water in small numbers. It can cause infection, like urinary infection if it gets outside the colon. A few toxic strains of e coli cause hemolytic uremic syndrome.

Bad trips with psychosis and flashbacks have been reported, and dry mouth, blurred vision, urinary retention, and hyperthermia have also occurred. You don;t really know what you are getting.

Cardamom's risks, benefits in dosages higher than that found in food are not known as there has been little research.  There is the possibility that it, in high doses, can cause a "gall bladder attack," if you have gallstones.  In the normal amounts used in foods, there is no apparent problem with this spice.
