Many things: Many things can cause head aches, ranging from dietary triggers (for example increased caffein, chocolates) to allergens, to high blood pressure, to metabolic causes, to hormonal changes, etc.  You should see a dr. For a full clinical exam and get properly diagnosed and treated.  Good luck.

Doctor should check: A "severe headache" usually needs a doctor. Someone with many headaches should bring a diary to his doctor, listing the headaches, how long each lasted, what medicine was used, what activities were done that day, which foods eaten, etc... Emergencies include a "worst headache ever", a headache that gets worse and worse as the day goes on, or a headache accompanied by other major symptoms, etc...

Many causes: Cluster headache,  atypical migraines or sinuses to name a few causes. You need to have this evaluated by your primary care doctor first, he/she can refer to a specialist if needed.

Yes: Low hematocrit could definitely cause headaches.  Your friend should find out the cause of the low hematocrit (is it iron deficiency or something else) and then treat that.  There are lots of other causes of headache however. If treating the anemia doesn't help, your friend should see a doctor.  One other simple treatment is to make sure your friend drinks enough water.  Also, avoid sugar.

Cephalgia: What you describe are most likely tension headaches that are due to muscle contraction, but if the headaches worsen in either intensity or frequency then i would recommend you seek medical attention very quickly.

It would be prudent to see your doctor and discuss if you may be depressed. Counter-intuitive as it may seem, exercise may help. Start with low intensity exercise such as walking and gradually increase the intensity as tolerated. Drink more water. Wish you good health!
