Doctor should check: A "severe headache" usually needs a doctor. Someone with many headaches should bring a diary to his doctor, listing the headaches, how long each lasted, what medicine was used, what activities were done that day, which foods eaten, etc... Emergencies include a "worst headache ever", a headache that gets worse and worse as the day goes on, or a headache accompanied by other major symptoms, etc...
