See a Surgeon: Sludge, "extremely large gallbladder", and back pain could be something as serious as pancreatitis or a significantly inflamed gallbladder.  Physician evaluation in an er is recommended.  It seems that the gallbladder should be removed in the absence of another source of symptoms.

Rarely: I am a pain management physician in las vegas as well as an anestheisologist who takes care of surgical gallbladder patients.  I am not aware of any relationship between cholecystitis/gallstones and low back pain.  Best strategy is to get gb treated medically or surgically and see if you still have lbp.

: Sorry but your symptoms may be caused by any visceral organ in the abdomen, not only hepatobiliary or urinary tract. A physical examination may or may not single out a condition. If this pain is acute, i.e. within the last 24 hours and persistent, you need to be evaluated ASAP. If you have had these sx for a while then make an appt with a doctor because you may need tests (blood, urine, radiology)

Common problems: Back pain is common after abdominal surgery due to position on the operating table.  Problems with bowel movements are also common, due to pain meds and stress of surgical procedure and general anesthesia. These should all slowly get better within 6-12 weeks after the operation. There is of course high variability Amon individuals. Hope this helps!

See specialist: The correlation may not be causation of the back pain. Please see a back specialist to have your back evaluated for a reversible cause of the pain.

i have had mid-low back pain since september. i have been diagnosed with esophagitis, a hiatal hernia. no one has looked at back.. i had my gallbladder checked, it was normal. but tonight my arm pits hurt is pain related to stomach? i feel crappy?

: No, stomach problem does not cause a referred pain in the armpit area. Just take 2 tylenol or 2 ibuprofen OTC for now and observe the response and any change in the area. Food pipe is right behind the spine column so some patients with reflux esophagitis may have pain in the upper back area although most will have substernal and epigastric pain.
