my ear has been clogged with wax for days. i had this issue once & had the doc flush it out. i was told to try (extra virgin) olive oil for a few days before going in, but after trying it i have ringing in my ear an hour later. do i try again?

: Might be best to try 2-3 drops of hydrogen peroxide in the ear each day before going to Dr: this can soften the wax &amp; likely not cause ringing

No: Oils have a heavy base and clog pores. Putting any kind of oils on you acne prone body parts is not a good idea.

No Difference: There is no difference in the hdl-c response to regular olive oil or extra virgin olive oil.

Olive oil: Monounsaturated oil is a better choice than most oils. It does not raise hdl.

You're fine: All smokes probably contain some carcinogens but you can't go through life avoiding everything that makes life enjoyable because that's impossible. And while I'm not much of a cook, it's common for sauces that contain oils (most do) to boil. Relax and stop worrying. Trusting you do not smoke, drink to excess, or do drugs, and that you exercise. how can excess of extra virgin olive oil makes me fat if its a light liquid, i cant understand how can this makes me gain weight...

Calories: If you learn anything about diet try to understand the concept of caloric density. Water is a light liquid with no calories, olive oil has 119 cal/tbsp. If you consume more calories than you need/burn off you gain weight.Consumption of 1 extra tbsp/day of olive oil for a year gives the calorie intake equal to 14.5 lb. wt gain.

i recently added extra virgin olive oil to my diet in the mornings.. i never ate oil before.. i'm nauseated now.. could the oil be why?

Could be if too much: Too oily/fatty foods slow down digestion and thus food stay in stomach for longer than usual, and if significant can cause nausea. As for u, stopping it to see if the nausea goes away and u have your answer. I would not recommend eating the olive oil by itself, but rather use it for coooking, making salads etc...Also, check for pregnancy as this can cause morning sickness...Good luck.

Yes.: Like all fats, olive oil is calorie dense and contains 120 calories in one tablespoon. Two tablespoons (one ounce) contains 240 calories. So using excess virgin olive oil will cause you to gain weight.

Need more info: To answer your question, i would need to know what other foods you are eating, your size and weight, and how much exercise you are getting.  1 serving of olive oil (1 tbs) = 120 calories.  If you are getting up to 10 servings (1200 calories!) a day, that may be a bit much.  A healthy diet is balanced & not weighted too much on fats.
