Don't waste money!: There is so much false hype in marketing vitamins. No vitamins will have any effect on stress. If  you eat a normal diet and not pregnant, you probably don't need vitamin supplements. But if you feel you might benefit, choose the cheapest multivitamin on the shelf and ignore claims like stress reduction, improved energy, immune system boosting, etc.

is it safe to take emergen-c while pregnant? i work with special needs kids who are always sick and i don't want to catch anything!!

Yes: Over the counter vitamins are likely okay, though some herbs can be dangerous. Emergen-C is mostly Vitamin C and echinacea, which are largely harmless. You don't want to overdo it, and make sure your OB is aware you're taking it. One, to make sure it is safe for you, since I don't have your history, and two, to make sure they dont' give you anything that might interact with it.

Save some money: Additional vitamin supplements available to consumers have not been proven to help normal people who are getting plenty of vitamins from their balanced diets (plus an inexpensive one-a-day multivitamin), and who aren't deficient in a vitamin. But, life is very subjective, so if a person believes he is helping himself by buying a second or third daily dose of vitamins, he may "feel even better".

Those following a well balanced and diverse diet need fewer supplements than those on a narrow or restricted diet. In the us it is hard to find foods that don't have various vitamin fortifiers added. We usually eliminate any excess daily.

Prenatal MVI (multivitamin) : The best advice would be to adjust your eating habit. Try to eat better and healthier. Increase vegetable and fruits. In addition, since you are at child bearing age- you should take prenatal multivitamin and also don't forget to take calcium daily ( daily recommendation is 1200-1500mg/day) as you are at the peak age where your body will absorp those calcium supplement effectively.

: Omeprazole and other drugs in its class (proton pump inhibitors) will commonly deplete the body of magnesium. Taking magnesium will likely help with this. A magnesium supplement with a better absorption rate is important. Magnesium citrate, oxide, and sulfate tend to commonly cause loose stools. Magnesium glycinate has a high bioavailability with fewer side effects. 200mg is a reasonable dose.

hi, i have tested positive for covid-19 following a near death encounter last saturday. after being attended to in hospital i was discharged to self quarantine. i was put on vitamin-c supplement, what other vitamin supplements must i take?

COVID 19:  You don't necessarily need to take any other supplements. Rest, hydrate, quarantine &amp; eat healthfully.  Depending on symptoms, consider use of acetaminophen, saline for nasal irrigation, decongestant or cough syrup.

Yes: Certain vitamins, particularly the fat soluble ones, a, d, e, and k can reach toxic levels if you take too much. The other vitamins can cause other health problems, such as increasing risk for cancer, if taken in very high doses.
