Accepted Answer

: Yes. You also add the fluid value in foods which in things like applesauce is 95% water. Many vegetables are 60% water.  Fluid value enough to keep you peeing at least every 6 hours is adequate to maintain hydration. Counting ounces of fluid intake is not necessary.

from a hydration standpoint, does drinking non-caffeinated tea, such as chamomile, count towards a persons daily recommended intake of water?

Yes: Decaffeinated beverages count. The reason that caffeinated beverages don't is that caffeine is a diuretic. Thus, your urinary losses would counter any fluid intake you gained by drinking the beverage. Hope this helps!

No: Wish you good health! - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Drink enough water daily, so that your urine is mostly colorless. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form. 
Practice safe sex, if you have sex.

Why this quantity ?: Your body benefits from the water content of various foods.Peaches/pears are up to 95% water, vegies 60%, other fluids 98%.You need to take in enough to pee every 6-8 hours unless you are taking a med that requires more. Water consumed just to meet some artificial goal is not necessary.

Yes, but...: Tea and coffee contribute to daily fluid requirements, but the caffeine they contain may cause diuresis ( increased urination), resulting in fluid loss. So drinking non caffeinated beverages  ( not alcohol) is important to maintain hydration.

How much water: You should be drinking enough water so that your urine is straw-colored.  Urine will always be darker when u wake up in the morning.  Remember that you lose fluid when you urinate, move your bowels, sweat, or sunburn.  Drink enough that your sodium level on your blodwork us in the lower half of the provided reference range.

Very peculiar!: I suggest that you cease the habit since it must disturb your sleep. Are you sure that you meant 10 am.

WATER INTAKE: You can drink 8-10 glasses per day. Excessive water intake does not ruin the kidneys.
