Ectopic.: If you were told you are at risk for an ectopic , see your doc for a HCG levgel and a transvaginal sono.  The pain happens when the tube is about to rupture. Call the OB gyn!

Then : Then you need to go immediately to an emergency department.  Ectopic pregnancies are extremely serious and can be fatal.  Please go immediately to the emergency department for an evaluation.

Yes: Depends on sensitivity of HCG test. If you test too early will show up negative. Also, remember you can have an ectopic and an intrauterine pregnancy at same time. Pain and abdominal pain in child bearing ages should get pregnancy test and ultrasound.

Sometimes both: It can be negative if there is not enough HCG present in an over the counter pregnancy test to measure, or it can be positive early on via a blood pregnancy test or later with the over the counter test.

Before!!: If you have an ectopic pregnancy that ruptures, that is a surgical emergency that must be dealt with now. Go directly to the er, they can call your dr from there, you will need surgery to keep you from bleeding to death.

Fertility consult: i have many patients with this issue. there is still a possibility of getting pregnant with this story however the odds are against you. make sure your significant other has normal spern analysis. IUI and ivf are certainly good options for you, seek care with a fertility specialist in your area. good luck

Confused: Ectopic pregnancy is a dangerous situation. The proper thing for you to do is see your ob/gyn and get a blood bhcg level which is more accurate then a urine test for pregnancyl and a possible pelvic u/s

Unlikely: A negative home pregnancy test can be confirmed with a blood test.  If is negative, you are not pregnant and cannot have an ectopic pregnancy.  Check with your clinician regarding missed periods.
