Most: Often yes you can but with limitations. Discuss with your doctor. Most fusion hardware comes with certain angles.

Monitor: Sometimes after procedure, local swelling can compress the nerve causing temporary symptoms. I would be concern if symptoms doesn't get better after at least 2 months because they may means  nerve injury perioperatively

Need exam: It is hard to pinpoint what is causing your symptoms in this type of forum.  The best thing to do would be to be in contact with your surgeon and let him/her exam you and decide what the next steps would be.

i had posterior cervical fusion, c6-c7, four months ago. is it normal for the tops of the screws to be visible through skin, protruding bulges?

No: That would be unusual unless you were an extremely thin person or you had other previous surgeries in that area.

i had lumbar spinal fusion surgery 14 days ago.  it involved the lowest three lumbar vertebrae and the highest level sacral vertebrae; four adjacent vertebra in all.  how far should i be walking and how frequently should i be walking?

Not so simple: Walking is an excellent vehicle for rehab., but a custom designed program should start now.  A physical therapist should evaluate your capacities, strength, and flexibility, and design a graduated progressive program to maximize your abilities but not injure by excessive exercise.  Advising you on how to excercise via this format in not feasible due to variations from person to person.

what shoes are best to wear after a spinal fusion? can i still wear my converse?

Spinal Fusion: I suspect your Back Surgeon will have some ideas for you.   Doesn't seem to me like Converse would provide enough cushion for support after surgery.

Fever, Chills, drain: Signs of infection after spinal fusion surgery are similar to other signs of injections, namely fevers, shaking chills, swelling, redness or drainage from your incision.  Rejection of spinal hardware does not exist  and with these symptoms, infection must be suspected.

No standard answer: But premature activity is not good after spinal fusion.

I would wait!: What do you mean onstage. Sitting on a stool or dancing, it certainly will dictate appropriate advice.  You been through a lot.  I'd wait, whatever you do.

after a big toe fusion can i run or wear heels ever again?

Accepted Answer

Definitely: As long as your surgeon positions your toe with  enough motion to spring forward, running is not a problem.  Your heel height may need to fall under an inch and a half.
