Thoracic, but...: AnnetteM,

The dermatome distribution to the torso and back is from the thoracic spinal cord. If you were to have damage to a nerve innervating this region, then you would likely have sensory deficits in a "ring" all the way around. For instance, T10 damage would distribute sensory changes around the belly button.

Still, it is important to rule out other pathology that can mimic these symptoms!

Discs: It means that the discs between the vertebrae are minimally pressing on the spinal column. A good exercise program to improve your muscle strength in that area would be of value. Good Luck

my mri says, straightening of thoracic kyphosis, what does that mean? schmorl's nodes mult. levels, 6 new bulg. discs scince last mri! why so bad in 4yr

Who said it's bad!: Straightening of the kyphosis or bend is not significant. Disc bulges are normal findings & seen more as we get older.  Schmorl's nodes are weak areas in bone allowing disc material to migrate into & are not necessarily bad findings either.  Make sure you have good lifestyle habits : not smoking, exercising  regularly and not being overweight.  Check your vitamin d level & have adequate  calcium.

Weight bearing: Wait til the acute pain has subsided. Any weight bearing exercise, such as walking, strengthens the bones. Be sure you have enough vitamin d in your diet. Ask your doctor to check your vitamin d level. There is alot of variability in an individual's requirements for vitamin d. An alkaline diet--lots of veggies--is also good for your bones.

could this cause a csf leak? right paracentral disc protrusion indenting the ventral aspect of the thoracic cord at the t7-t8 level. there are small left lateral thecal sac outpouchings in the left t7-t8 and t8-t9 neural foramina?

Magnesium level: The normal blood value for magnesium (m) is1.8-2.6 milliequivalents per liter (meq/l). Your m level was normal. It is very improbable that your symptoms were caused by a low m level when yours was normal. Speak to your physician for more information.

is a troponin 1 level of .017 of any concern with chest pain?

Troponin: I presume you mean troponin I not 1. In any case a normal troponin level is 0 but .017 is very nearly zero and I wouldn't be concerned about the single measurement that low. If the chest symptom or other factors made me concerned, I would certainly repeat the troponin to see if it was actually elevated.
