It depends: Because developing leukoplakia so quickly and at your age would be uncommon i must question the diagnosis.    A dentist might know.  Otherwise might have your family doc take a look?

Varicosities: The most common reason for this are varicose veins. This is usually common and quite harmless depending on your general health and if there are any other issues. There can be other reasons. Have your Doctor check them at your bext visit

Cancer.: I hope it's not. But a hard lump on your tongue is a possible sign of oral cancer. This can be cured when caught early, so it's important to see an oral surgeon or ENT doctor right away. Even young people like you can get oral cancer, so don't wait to be seen. There's a good chance it's not cancer, but you won't know unless you get checked.

Sertraline rx: Zoloft (sertraline) can dissolve on the tongue or back of tongue / throat and burn with a bad taste.  If swallowed well and whole, Zoloft (sertraline) can lead to a serotonin surge, like other SSRI meds, and this surge includes nausea, perhaps reflux, and odd GI and CNS sensations

Doctor Visit: Tongue abnormalities are treated best by the speciality Otolarygology or ENT(ear,nose, and throat) doctors.
Could be tumor that needs biopsy and diagnosis. Could be blocked salivary duct, stone, or even blood clot.

Tricky.: dermatologic conditions are hard to discuss without seeing them. scalloping with discoloration would indeed be a presentation of precancerous / cancerous changes. These are RARE in young people. ANd, dental problems iwth chronic biting/irritation of the tongue MUCH more common.

Tongue piercing: The tongue has a large blood  supply and bleeds easily.  The mouth is full of  bacteria so you are at risk of infection even if you do not notice symptoms.  Take the piercing out and let your tongue heal.

Possible viral ...: Tongue , oral mucosa - inflammation - could be either viral ( as herpes - cold sores") or fungal as " oral thrush' . Sometime  bacterial but wonder tongue uncommon ( unless injured) .For relieve recommend arm water with salt gargle and rinses. Liquid bland diet. If he has severe pain or fever , swollen glands.. he should be seen by doctor. Mild discomfort can be also relieve day ibuprofen ,tylenol

Tongue burn: Should completely recover unless third degree burn. Avoid smoking. alcohol, spicy foods. Can do rinses with baking soda, 1/2 tsp in 8oz of lukewarm water.
