Not likely: While people who receive certain chemotherapy agents can have a metallic taste in their mouths as a result, if you do not already have cancer, then a metallic taste is far more likely to be related to benign causes... Dry mouth, diet, acid reflux, or many others.  If it persists and is bothersome check with your primary care doctor.

Lip swelling: Probably not, but this is not something that can be diagnosed without a thorough examination and a dental/medical history. You should see your dentist or an oral surgeon for an examination.

Continue to observe: Hi Anne, Depending on how much tissue was removed and whether or not you had a primary closure or skin graft the healing process can be rather quick or may take a few weeks. If the surgery was for a malignancy, this means that your surgeon likely had to remove margins ( normal tissue) around the cancerous cells and this would then lead to more postop swelling and healing time.

i have swelling in my face on one side of jaw. google suggested salivary gland cancer but would my doctor noticed it upon examining my mouth? i have no numbness or anything. it came on suddenly. they think its abscessed tooth. dental appt is made?

: It would be prudent to have your teeth examined to determine if the swelling is due to an abscess. If it is due to your salivary gland, it may be as simple as a blocked duct.

Look different: A swollen tonsil with stones is more  likely inflammatory than malignant.  A cancer of the tonsil would more likely be ulcerated and hemorrhagic .  If this is not resolving after 2 years, you should seek medical attention.

Tonsil stones: Tonsil stones are white objects within tonsillar crypts and don't ulcerate,change in size and don't cause symptoms. If there's any doubt an examination by a physician or Otolaryngologist would be definitive.

Mumps: Mumps is a specific viral infection of the parotid gland which lies just forward of the ear.  Symptoms are swelling, pain and fever.   Tonsils are in the throat and are lymphatic tissues.    Symptoms of tonsillitis are fever and sore throat.   Tonsillitis can be caused by viruses or strep.    Antibiotics only treat strep so both infections if viral must run their course  of a week plus.
