Tolerance: 2mg is a low dose of diazepam.  It is a medicine that induces tolerance, or the need for gradually  higher doses for the same effect.  You may need a higher dose than you're currently taking to control input symptoms.  Please note that benzodiazepines are not a good long-term solution for anxiety because of tolerance and habituation factors -- psychotherapy, however, can be much longer lasting.

Probably not: Even low dose diazepam generally has anxiolytic effects. However, even at low doses there is a potential for addiction, tolerance &amp; withdrawal with diazepam. So actually it's best for short term use in as low a dose as possible. You should never take this drug without being closely supervised by a licensed physician. I wish you well with your health!

Second opinion?: Hi Kelly, this is difficult to answer not knowing more about what's going on with you. Generally speaking, benzos are best used on a short term basis, and there are other medications that are safer over the long term. Strongly recommend that you consider psychotherapy as chronic anxiety can be managed quite effectively with evidence based approaches, e.g., CBT. Hope this is helpful.  Take care.

Addiction: The class of benzodiazepines - of which diazepam is one - can be quite effective in reducing symptoms of anxiety. The most common short-term side-effects are sedation. In the long-term, sometimes pts develop tolerance (they need a higher dose of the med over time to get the effect); and if they stop the med abruptly, they may suffer withdrawal symptoms.

: That is likely to make you very sleepy and you will likely remain sleepy for at least a couple of hours, maybe longer (especially if you don’t usually take this medicine). So, you would need to be sure someone is with you to get you on and off the plane and to be with you while you sleep on the plane. This needs to be prescribed by a doctor for you-if not, this could be dangerous for you!

i have taken a zoplocone about half an hour ago but i'm feeling anxiety coming on can i take a diazepam?

Drug interactions: I had to do a drug interaction check using  eszopiclone instead of  zopiclone.  I  simply couldn't get any drug interactions checkers to accept "zopiclone". Both are similar and are cyclopyrrolones.  Adding this to diazepam can cause ^ dizziness, drowsiness, confusion. It you were going to take them both - I would only do so if you are going right to bed. AND make sure you don't drink alcohol.

i've been on 3 x5 mg of diazepam for anxiety for over 10 years and they are not helping me no more what should i do please ?

Several options.: Firstly, should you decide to come off the valium, taper it extremely slowly under the supervision of a psychiatrist. Some people find it helpful to switch benzodiazepines by a cross tapering. If you have generalized anxiety and have not been on Buspirone before, i would recommend that to control the generalized anxiety and a very slow tapering of the diazepam in the process. Bye very slow i mean over the course of the year or longer if necessary. You are in no rush and you are not in a race. Some people do get at least a partial benefit in the relief of their anxiety from some of the ssri medications. Again, assuming you have generalized anxiety disorder, one of the better options would include lexapro (escitalopram). Now would also be a time to get involved in cognitive behavioral therapy to learn how to control your thoughts that trigger your emotions. This is most likely to help you want to come off of benzodiazepines in the long run. Your psychiatrist certainly have other options for you. These are just some of the ones available. I wish the very best. Do not forget that other options yoga, acupuncture, exercise, dietary, and meditation.  Spiritually centered and keep a good support group around.
