Scar treatment: Most scar creams are anecdotally successful & may work early on-silicone based creams probably work best.  Most treatment to improve the appearance of scars like this use special technology to remodel the skin. with pityriasis rosea, the herald patch wont respond to fungal/steroid cream, correct? pityriasis rosea is my diagnosis, but was initially treated as ring worm and the patch responded to the cream. could this contradict it being pityriasis rosea?

Pityriasis rosea: Herald patch of pityriasis rosea does not respond to anti-fungal cream. It may respond to steroid cream. The appearance of pityriasis and fungal tinea corporis can be similar. Pityriasis rapidly progresses. Tinea corporis can be slow. Pityriasi stypically resolves in 8-12 weeks. If its 8 weeks and rash has not improved, re-examination is needed.

See doctor: It may not be pitryasis rosea. It would be prudent to see a doctor for a proper diagnosis and appropriate treatment.
Have a healthy diet, exercise, drink plenty of water, have safe sex, no tobacco alcohol weed or street drugs.

If it's really PR: there is no treatment necessary. We give topical steroids only for symptomatic itching.

i have pityriasis rosea. i have taken steroids, and im currently taking hydroxyzine pamoate 25mg. i have used a multitude creams. i have severe itch. i wanted to know could i be prescribed something more effective. this itch is taking over me. ?

Multilayer approach: Try a multilayer approach. Topical Calamine or topical anesthetic, oral antihistamines (claritin, allegra) Benadryl for night, and oral steroids to reduce the itchiness in 3 different ways. Pityriasis Rosea usually clears itself in 7-9 months.

can i put pure lard on pityriasis rosea herald patch that is on thigh for 2 months and 20 days?or some other cream?patch is dry and non itchy

Have it looked at.: First, lard has no known therapeutic effect when applied to the skin.  Second, if you had pityriasis rosea 2 years ago it's unlikely that you have it again, and a herald patch shouldn't last almost 3 months anyway. Have a dermatologist look at it - because it could be any number of things, and if it's been there that long it deserves a proper diagnosis.

i have had pityriasis rosea for over 6 months now. dermatologist gave me a steroid cream, but it doesn't seem to be helping anymore. any tips?

Second opinion: It's unusual but not unheard-of for pityriasis rosea to last this long. I've been told that getting a minor sunburn and/or taking erythromycin can end the disease. Perhaps this is actually something else -- perhaps a second opinion is in order. Best wishes.

See your doctor: That does not sound like a typical part of pityriasis. It could be a totally new rash or possibly related to the cream you are using. I would see your doctor so they can see your new rash.

Doubtful: Hydrocortisone is helpful for itchy or inflamed rashes.  We believe that pityriasis is caused by a virus and not inflammatory.  I would expect a herald patch to be accompanied by others by now.  You should consider that this might be another cause such as eczema or lupus.  I would recommend an examination.
