i have dry skin.i dermaplaned my face a few weeks ago and ended up getting a whitish dry patch in the corner of my mouth which is slightly discoloured.its dry and sometimes itchy.i've been using cerave but no change seen.how do i get rid of the patch?

: Try plain Vaseline first. Apply many times a day, especially after eating or washing. If not better after a month, please see a dermatologist.

Big dif: The former is basically exfoliation- removal of dead outer skin cells sort of buffing the skin. The latter removes living cells at a deeper level and actually addresses wrinkles.

Depth!: Dermaplaning: scraping the skin with a scalpel blade held perpendicular to the skin so as to remove dead layers only. Microdermabrasion: a rotating burr or abrasive crystals blown against the skin removes the dead layers and a tiny amount of live skin to help with fine wrinkles, uneven pigmentation and adult acne. Dermabrasion: more invasive / removes part of the live skin for acne scars / creases

No obvious advantage: Dermaplaning is a proprietary name for using a surgical blade to scrape the outermost layers of the epidermis, supposedly to exfoliate the skin and regenerate new skin cells. Frankly, i see no advantage to this procedure over time-tested exfoliating techniques such as microdermabrasion and superficial chemical peel - and you have the added risk of nicks & cuts.

Yes, no, yes, maybe: Dermaplaning over active acne is not a good idea; it increases the risk of infection & scarring. Hair grows back normally, since dermaplaning is basically a very close shave. Blackheads are plugged oil glands, and the most basic lesion of acne, but blackheads by themselves are not acne per se. Dermaplaning will probably not make blackheads worse, but it is not a treatment for blackheads either.

is it ok to use bio oil on the face while on absorica (accutane) ? i've read good reviews about it online and how it helped people's scarring.

Yes: Bio oil is a popular treatment for scarring and there is no reason it can't be used while on accutane. The bio oil should also help with the drying that can occur with the Accutane treatment. The only relative precaution is that the oil may block pores (comedogenic) . Check with your physician.

i've read good reviews about olive oil helping acne scars and redness on the face, and i want to use it but im not sure if i should?do you recommend?

Try it: It may relieve the redness like many other things can, and will probably only hide the scars during the time it's in place -- it is shiny and make them harder to see. I'm really sorry you weren't properly treated for acne in the first place -- any physician has the means to clear it or refer severe cases to those who can. A dermatologist can use filler or other rx to make the scars less visible.

how often should i have facials?

Weekly to monthly: If someone has certain problems they're trying to fix such as acne and blemishes then it may be helpful to have a series of facials closer together (ie: every 1-2 weeks) until they achieve the desired results and then try to maintain with monthly facials. Facials can be enhanced with procedures such as microdermabrasion and glycolic peels.
