Is it ok to use bio oil on the face while on absorica (accutane) ? i've read good reviews about it online and how it helped people's scarring.

Yes: Bio oil is a popular treatment for scarring and there is no reason it can't be used while on accutane. The bio oil should also help with the drying that can occur with the Accutane treatment. The only relative precaution is that the oil may block pores (comedogenic) . Check with your physician.

Myth but use if help: Many of my patients swear by the benefits of olive or bio-oil and so i generally don't dissuade them but there is very little science to support its use. It is probably the massage, (which we know helps scars) that is used to apply the oil, which is actually providing the improvements observed. Massage with any clean oil 3-4 times a day. Silicon gel strips are morel likely to improve the scar.
