Pressure and tetanus: That's a small cut.  Keep pressure on it and wash with soap and water.  If you haven't had a tetanus shot in 10 years you should get one.

my son cut his thumb by sticking it in a soda can last night. its a fairly deep cut, should he still be experiencing some intermittent bleeding?

Laceration: HI

The bleeding should stop by now, unless the wound is not covered and he keeps on injuring it or scratches it. Suturing  is usually done in the fresh wound. 
Please keep the area clean, you may apply topical antibiotic, apply pressure if the bleeding noted. If bleeding does not stop after 5 minutes of pressure then get him seen.

i cut my thumb deep enough to indent it. i suspect i have severed a nerve. at 16 will i and how long will it take to regain feeling and fill out?

Nerve injury: is usually permanent.  Surgical repair is not possible in a small nerve such as digital nerve.  Deformity would probably improve, but it too can be permanent, depending on severity of it.

It is not: It may be just a bad or long scarring, a piece of debris that got caught in the wound or scarring of the bone; but there is no way to know without a proper evaluation

i cut the inside of my thumb deep and has been numb above the cut since it happened.  will the nerve repair itself ?

Prob will improve: Depends on the locations of the cut.  If it was close to the tip of the finger, and wasn't severe enough to need stitches, everything should heal and the numbness should eventually get better.  If it was close to the palm, it's possible that the numbness might not go away.  It could take several months to see a difference.  A nerve regrows about the thickness of your thumbnail every day.

No: Swelling a week later is of concern especially if there is throbbing and spreading redness or discharge. IT'S best to have a physician evaluate your thumb. Your tetanus immunization status will also be reviewed.

2 days ago, i had a clean deep cut on the top/back of my thumb below the knuckle. it healed up but now i cant bend my thumb backwards. will i regain mobility of my thumb with time or is there anything i can do to help it?

: If a cut is healed in just 2 days I doubt that any tendon or nerve has been injured so you will soon recover full function of that thumb.

how deep of a cut on a thumb is too deep? how to know when to see a medical professional? i cut my thumb on a light (yes i know) today and it is surprisingly deep and red in colour inside. it has left a hole where i cut it. when should i get help?

: Based on your description of the cut, I would have gone to urgent care right away. Even if the bleeding has stopped, your thumb might heal better with sutures. Also, if you haven’t had a tetanus shot in the past 5 years, you should probably get a booster.
