No: Swelling a week later is of concern especially if there is throbbing and spreading redness or discharge. IT'S best to have a physician evaluate your thumb. Your tetanus immunization status will also be reviewed.

Likely not: It could just be a reaction but of a greater concern would be an infection. You should get it looked at.
