Pleurtic Pain: Forcefully coughing for your chest/back/ abdominal muscles is like going to the gym and working muscle groups that you don't typically use in that manner. This results in them becoming sore and being uncomfortable when they are used to breathe. If not contraindicated you can use over the counter analgesics like Ibuprofen or acetominophen and that usually helps until the coughing resolves.

Stridor: Is closing off of the trachea and not the bronchi. If this is so there is throat inflammation. You say you are on singular and advair, any bronchodilator? The chest pain is either from like a tendonitis of the intercostals or a real pleurisy. Get examined better, make sure there is no infection like croup or even pertussis,  and have the inflammation treated, by steroid if necessary.

A cough is a reflex designed to bring debris/mucus forward from deep in the lung. Without an exam I can only speculate.

Cause of cough: Many issues are associated with cough of three week's duration. Try an expectorant such as Guaifenesin (mucinex). Any fever? Any shortness of breath? Go see your doctor. Either an antibiotic or a bronchodilator may be prescribed.
