Do you have allergy: symptoms to IV iodinated contrast only? Because all table salt that you buy from the grocery store contains iodine, unless it expressly says it doesn't.  If you have been consuming iodine from table salt, then you are not allergic to ingesting or coming into contact with it.  Just to be sure you should ask your primary care provider to distinguish.

Yes: It will be out of your system within the next day and it wouldn't matter even if it wasn't as it sounds as if you may b having a thyroid scan and the salt you mention doesn't have any iodine anyways.

Why: White iodine has been used to strengthen brittle nails, not to prevent biting nails. Beware, some people are allergic to iodine.

Yes: Allergy to IV contrast dye does not have anything to do with iodine. Thus, it is okay to use products with iodine in people who have iv contast allergy.  However, it is possible to have a separate, typically contact allergy, to iodine-based cleansers.

Deep wounds: Those are pretty deep wounds. You should probably be seen for these, which is what i would recommend. Use antibiotic ointment of your two choices. Cover with something clean and for goodness sake, get seen by a clinician.

This is myth.: Shellfish allergy is one of the more common food allergies, mainly in adults, but the idea that iodine should also be avoided is a myth. Iodine does not cause allergy. Although shellfish does contain iodine, a teaspoon of iodized table salt contains over 10x as much iodine as 3 oz of shrimp. Fish and shellfish allergy is the result of allergy to proteins in the meat.

Iodized: Iodized salt is the most iodine most people get. You should use less salt if you have hbp and if you are on a no-salt diet then you need to replace your iodine some other way. Lack of iodine causes thyroid problems, specifically goiter (among others).

If you have hbp, you should use less salt period.  Doesn't matter if it's iodized or not iodized.

does the use of iodine nterfere with the tc 99 thyroid uptake?

Thyroid scan: Iodine will not interfere with the technicium scan, however the tc99 scan does not tell you much. If a thyroid scan is needed, it should be done with radioactive iodine.  This will require that you stop taking iodine supplements, which you really do not need to take anyway. See your endocrinologist.

Abscess relief.: You could try the very Warm compresses until it opens. Antibiotics will work. The best is surgical intervention with antibiotic protection though this is for the last stages of the abscess ( when it has fluid inside). The iodine probably will not work. If : If a patient has a fall and has pain in the knee,  with swelling present, then an x-ray may be indicated to determine if there is a fracture.  If the pain is persistent, then a cartilaginous or ligamentous cause must be considered as a possibility.  Using advil (ibuprofen) and an ace wrap, along with ice and elevation, are reasonable but if the pain persists then a medical evaluation is reasonable.
