i would like a comprehensive solution for the best way of dealing with tinnitus. it's sucked the enjoyment out of everything in my life.

More history: Tinnitus can be awful! To effectively treat tinnitus it is important to get to the root of the problem. Unfortunately, to do that, a more detailed history is necessary. Tinnitus can be caused by several medications (including too much aspirin). Depending on other symptoms (hearing loss, etc.) - this may lead us to think about something else.

First, diagnosis: Hearing loss associated with tinnitus is very common.  You need an audiogram and a good look at the ear drum to make an appropriate diagnosis.  You could have otosclerosis (fixation of the stirrup bone in the middle ear).  You could have inner ear deafness which could be improved with a hearing aid.  The amplification may make the tinnitus less noticeable. Bottom line, you need a diagnosis.

Tinnitus : Tinnitus is usually rather recalcitrant to treatment. If it is loud, it can make it hard to hear and prevent sound sleep. Chinese scalp acupuncture can be used to treat tinnitus. However, like most approaches to tinnitus the effects are usually not dramatic. Take care.

is trazodone a good med to help me sleep dealing with severe tinnitus sleep concentration etch problems or could you advise me of some that may help?

It can help.: Trazadone is relatively safe.  It can help you get to sleep without a lot of side effects. Will it suppress tinnitus is another story. Some say it does. It's worth a try ( under physician guidance ).

fizzling sound in the back of my neck. it doesn't hurt.have been dealing with sinusitis and otitis lately which gave me tinnitus.this sounds different?

Fizzling in neck: Could be mastoiditis ( the bone behind the ear),  or from lymph nodes,rarely vascular  but would check it out with doc/ urgent care.

should i worry about hearing loss/ tinnitus while dealing with a screaming child?
my daughter screams intensely during the night, a few feet away from  me, will i get hearing damage from that?

: No, a child screaming should not cause you to have a hearing loss when a few feet away.You can certainly put earplugs in so that it lessens the intensity of the sound (for your comfort)-you will still be able to hear her. Certainly, you would want to figure out why she is screaming and help to resolve that.Not sure how old she is, but if it's because you're doing sleep training,it will get better.

i have bad tmj - painful jaws. got a splint to wear at night. it has helped somewhat. i also developed tinnitus in my ear i am thinking from tmj. what would be my next step in dealing with this?

: Regarding TMJ, splint may help but will take a long time.  Consider a second opinion from oral surgeon.  The tinnitus would not be caused from jaw issues, and therefore, an otolaryngologist should be consulted.

so i'm still dealing with this cold and my right ear is now thumping when i talk. i do have tinnitus. but not pulsatile. i know this is probably a muscle spasm, but why is this occurring? from my cold? i get them from time to time but not this long?

: Chroniic 'cold' needs an investigation for cause and treatment. Once cause is found and treated you will be fine. Cant be done without exam.

: Tinnitus can certainly be associated with Meniere's Disease, but this is not a simple diagnosis to confirm and expertise will be needed.  Contact an experienced Otolaryngologist who will conduct history and examination, and likely perform audiological/ otological studies.

Problems inner ear: Tinnitus is located usually within the inner ear auditory apparatus, but referred sounds could be due to extra cranial vasculature stenosis, or even transmitted cardiac sounds.  Rarely, arteriovascular malformations cause tinnitus-like issues, and hyperthyroidism may cause venous hums.
