A good fiber source: Unless you are allergic, or have a diagnosis of diverticulosis or diverticulitis, there are no side effects to eating chia seeds. In fact, chia seeds are a great source of fiber, protein, and omega 3.  If you have diverticulosis, you should avoid chia or any types of seeds or nuts as they could become lodged in a diverticula and cause inflammation or worse, perforation.

: Unlikely. I do not know any reason for Chia seeds to result in a positive drug test. Make sure there are no poppy seeds in your lot of chia seeds.

Maybe: Ground chia seeds swell up in your stomach and make you feel full with less food. Lentils are high in fiber. You also need green vegetables. That should be the mainstay of your diet. If you are not vegetarian i would add some lean meat, fish or chicken.

If you had no metallic taste before eating the seeds, and if the metallic taste disappears if you stop eating the seeds, then it may be the seeds.
If the metallic taste lingers, see your dentist or ENT specialist for an examination.
