Hard to say: There are multiple potential causes of back pain that feels like it is up and down the spinal column.  A detailed exam and perhaps an MRI will usually determine the cause.  Potential causes can include multi level degenerative disc disease, muscle spasm, or multiple level facet arthritis thy to name a few.  There are also inflammatory conditions that affect the spine such as ankylosing spondylitis.

Spine pain: This can be many things: arthritis, a herniated vertebral disc, nerve compression, simple muscle strain, tumor, etc. Baseline xrays are needed to really narrow the diagnosis  down.

If no growth last yr: An 18 yr old is not growing taller if her growth plates have fused. If not fused, she may grow a tiny bit (pediatrician's growth chart for her can tell if growth has stopped). To look taller, one can choose properly designed clothing and shoes, and keep good posture. Vitamins, supplements, "special" foods, extra exercise, etc... will not make her taller if she already closed her growth plates.

Arthritic changes: In the spinal column arthritic changes show up as extra bony growth which can cause pressure on nerves and spasm of muscles...these are called spurs, osteophytes, facet hypertrophy and can even lead to stenosis, or narrowing of the canals the spinal cord and nerves travel through.

Sure: It depends on the details of the injury. For example, a person might just bruise or break a spinous process (one of the pointy bony parts that stick out on the spine) without hurting the spinal cord. Likewise, a person can bruise his skull without bruising his brain. Or, he can bruise his leg bone without damaging the bone marrow inside. Many things are possible in life.

only when my low back is in extension, do i have almost a sharp pain right in my spinal column. i dont feel it any other time. is this a bulging disk?

Back pain: It's not possible to diagnose a bulging or herniated disc from that symptom. Extension of your spine bringing on the pain is more likely due to musculoskeletal causes especially if the discomfort is in the midline of the back.  Radiation of pain toward your buttock and leg would be more characteristic of disc disease.

how could you have an injury to the spinal cord without any damage or injury to the spinal column and vertebrates? if the cord is inside the vertebral column then how could the cord be injured without the bones also being damaged?

Cord injury: The bony part of the spine may withstand  the trauma but the softer spinal cord may sustain a contusion or worse as it bangs against the vertebra during the impact.
