hi. i have tmj and recently went to a chiropractor who did dry needling and adjustments. that was 5 days ago. fro. the day of adjustments and needling i have this medium to severe headache and the pain runs down my neck area. with that is dizziness?

Don't know: I am not sure what the cause is. I am an acupuncturist and would advise that dry needling should not have caused this severity of symptoms.

It might: You might have some TMJ or inner ear problems. The specialist is the right place to start with treatment options but the otc bite guard is unlikely to make anything worse.

No: It indicates that you have underlying inner ear pathology. It is probably inner ear movements during chewing that cause dizziness. Most likely same dizziness also occurs with quick head shaking or bending and getting up.

See a trained doctor: A doctor who is properly trained in trudenta should be able to help you.  They can treat your TMJ but this is a sign of other issues (like your jaw or neck muscles).   Yes google trudenta and find a doctor listed on the website and go get evaluated and treated.

Hard to tell: differential diagnosis for diziness is quite large, and has to be diagnosed by history and physical exam plus imaging and diagnostic work up.
you can also see an interventional pain physician or a neurologist who performs supraorbital nerve blocks.
if your symptoms resolve, then that is both diagnostic and therapeutic.
you should take medications such as gabapentin or lyrica (pregabalin) for nerve pain

Stop chewing: Soft diet, antiinflammatories, ice, dental evaluation. No gum ever again. There is a special mouth guard called an nti device that your dentist can make that is especially helpful.

Dizziness: Great question. Sometimes its due to TMD, dehydration, vision problems, inner ear issues or stress. Start by drinking a lot of fluids, see your eye doctor to make sure your prescription. (i had the same problem when my prescription was wrong) and get a good check up with your doctor

Vestibular neuritis: or labyrinthitis is a condition involving the inner ear which can become inflamed or infected.  It is often characterized by dizziness and balance problems, and sometimes with abnormal eye movements (nystagmus) and hearing loss.  It is treatable with medications and surgery.
