Monitor the setting: A 3 yo who snores has tonsil &amp; adenoid growth that is prominent &amp; interfering some with the airway. If he has breathing pauses lasting more than 20 seconds during sleep, he is progressing toward childhood sleep apnea. This usually worsens for a few years since tonsils/adenoids grow faster than the kid until they hit 8 or so. If this occurs have him evaluated by an ENT. Tonsillectomy is curative.

All of them do some: Even though all sleeping pills may cause hangover to a certain extend, rozerem (ramelteon) is of a new class (melatonin-receptor-agonists) and has minimal hangover effect in most individuals. It is also the mildest of the usual prescription sleep aids. The most important precaution is to take the sleeping pill well ahead of wake up time (a bare minimum of 8 hours, the more the better).

Pain &amp; Insomnia: Your pain may be the cause of your sleep issues.  Please see your doc to get to the root of your pain.  One  possibility is Lyme.  He/she can test for that but the blood work is not very reliable.  Your symptoms need to be taken into account.  For better sleep avoid stimulants after noon and computer, iPhone, screens of any type one hr. prior to bed.  Peace and good health.

during labor i had inducing medications and 20 bags of penicillin in 4 days with major blood loss during c section surgery. could this plus not sleeping and eating well cause long term dizziness? could penicillin have long term affects in the brain?

: "Major blood loss" during a C/S, with anemia the result, may produce dizziness if your iron stores are low, and you are not taking replacement. If your hemoglobin/hematocrit is near normal, and dizziness continues, obtain a referral to a neurologist to determine the cause.  See your OB physician first for an exam to see if your blood count is near normal.

my father has parkinson and one of his medications makes him gamble uncontrollably.he says he takes it to help him sleep,we tried to give him other different sleeping medications to try. he refuses. does the requip cause an extra high while gambling?

Dopamine: Please have your dad see his prescribing doctor.  Parkinson's drugs impact dopamine levels.  This can result in compulsive gambling or other compulsive, future-oriented behaviors (needing a "fix").  He may not want to give up this feeling but the doc will help and provide something else for sleep if appropriate and not an excuse to continue w/the med.  Peace and good health.

hi.  i am trying to learn to sleep with a cpap.  i also take a night time medication such as tylenol pm because my bed is too soft. it's newer but i don't like it.  for some reason even with both, i am not sleeping well. i don't know what else to do. plea

woke up with severe pain in the center of my chest, thought it's a trapped wind, medication for that helped, however the pain remains, pain becomes severe when sleeping and bending forward,i take aspirin for pain. can a trapped wind cause pleurisy?

You have chosen bad: There are certain pain meds one should not use for stomach pains. These include Aspirin and Aspirin like drugs called NSAIDS(non-steroidal-anti-inflammatory Drugs). The latter nclude drugs like Ibuprophen (Motrin/Advil) &amp; Naprosyn(Aleve), as these can cause stomach ulcers or Gastritis....conditions which are typically the cause of stomach pains. The best medicine to use in your case is Antiacids.

anti-epileptic drug navalpro (generic for epilim 500 mlg) causes a bad insomnia. what sleeping tablets would be the best combination to help me sleep at night. thank you.

Magnesium to begin: Regular sleep schedule with same wake time daily, 9hr prior develop a 30min relaxation process and begin with 4-500mg Mg gluconate, citrate or threonate. IF not sufficient adding melatonin -beginnin gwith 1-3mg , can increase to max 10-15mg if needed

i have been on 1 x 100mg molipaxin for 2 weeks. in the beginning i fell asleep easily, but the last 4 nights i have not been able to sleep at all. could it be the medication?  what am i doing wrong?
