Probably not: Sometimes phlegm will have small amounts of blood.  When the blood coagulates it can look like small threads/veins in the phlegm.

my son breathes heavily when he coughs.he has cough n coldn fever for3 days.what do i feed him.he poops semi solid too.how long will he take to get ok?

Viral Illness: Viral illness presented by cold, cough, runny/stuffy nose, fever, poor appetite. Viral resp. Infection stays for 3-5 or 7 days. 
Make sure he drinks enough fluid, stool if watery/frequent- give pedialyte for each stool, tylenol (acetaminophen) for fever 101 or above. Some cough is ok b/c it keeps airway clear. Give some honey. Cut on milk, give reigular food. Continues longer or any worsening, see his peds.

hi ive got a bit of a cold and a cough, i dont feel too ill. just a bit tired from poor sleep and a bit stuffy. but i just coughed up two solid chunks of pghlem (sorry for sounding gruesome). do i need to go to my dr?

Phlegm: if phlegm is green of dark yellow( not clear), if fever ,if cold persists &gt; 1 week, if worseningn cough, short of breath, wheezing,  facial pain,  ear pain,  throat pain,any underlying disease,  would follow up with doctor urgent care.  Meanwhile try, Vitc C ( orange juice 3-4 glasses a day x 3 then taper  over 4 days to 1 glass a day) antihistamines, elevate head of bed, motrin. f/uw/doc

i choked on something last night (not sure if it was solid or liquid) and managed to cough and vomit it up. but now when i cough i get chest pain?

See doctor: It is not uncommon to have pain in the chest cage or the diaphragm after violent vomiting, but if you still have a cough 24 hours after the episode then I would be concerned over aspiration pneumonia.  If the problem persists for another day or gets worse at any time, see your doctor- however in case of doubt, get checked out sooner rather than later.

my baby is teething. he sleeps alot,drinks less but eat more solids, cries more & is irritable. he had a cold&was at 3 different doctors in last month. they all said his cough was just a cold.his cough has lessen. he had a fever of 37.8must i worry?

4 to 6 weeks: A chronic persistent cough should be further evaluated. Please see your PCP if the cough is not resolving in another week. If there are signs of a new infection or signs of worsening respiratory status, please see the Emergency room. Nasal saline rinses will help to reduce post nasal drip.

Likely virus: This sounds like a viral infection,likely a simple upper respiratory infection. If she has a fever, is not eating/drinking well, has difficulty breathing, or worsening in any other way, please call her doctor for an in-person or telemedicine visit.

had bad cold/cough & coughed so hard now when i swallow solid foods i can feel it go down is this caused from throat irritation from coughing?

Most likely: Most likely it is from the coughing if you noticed it after your coughing fits. I notice you are taking Nystatin (not sure if that is oral or topical) and some antibiotics. "Sometimes" antibiotics can cause thrush in the mouth/throat too, so if you can see white patches in the mouth and back of throat you should see your Dr.  Sometimes with coughing you can get a little acid reflux too.

: 6 mm pulmonary nodules are non specific. I would like to know if you had a previous CT that would establish if they’ve been there for some time. They are too small to be imaged with an MRI.  A repeat study in 6 months is an excellent and appropriate follow up.  The fact that you have a smoking history makes it that much more important for follow up.
